    shop.html v. index.html? Your help please!

Hi there wondered whether anyone could help me on this item: We are using shop.html as our home page and have deleted index.html (as we felt it didn't add anything to our site). Are there any issues anyone has experienced in doing this and does this cause any problems with web spiders visiting? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are new to this so simple explanations please! Many Thanks

you really should have an index.html within the folder even if it is empty.

type www.yourdomain.co.uk/acatalog into a browser to see why.

Personally i always use index.html for the above reason

      Thanks for the quick response!

We still have the index.html file in site1 folder ,it is a blank page , is that sufficient? What is the reason an index.html file is required?

Basically if someone browses to http://your.URL/acatalog/ if you don't have a file in this folder called index.html, sometimes customers will see a listing in their browser of all the files and folders within the directory. This is a bad idea.
