    Creating Separate Sales Area

I want to create an area of "special offers" on my site, which only people who have been given a specific URL can access. However, I don't want them to have to log on to see this. Is there any way I can do this, maybe by actually using login details in the url?

I'm using Dev. V6 - and the only other thought I had was to create a new site which just contains this section, with a different web address.

    Any suggestions

    Thanks

You can limit products and sections to specific customers, so you could tell them to log in as x and then go to the section. To hide products you only enable them for a certain price schedule, to hide sections you have to do some clever stuff with template - details are in the advanced user guide.

Thanks for the reply Jan. Don't want the customers to log in - it's got to be a one click to a specific URL.

Time to go and read the AUG I think!

Could you hardcode login details into the URL?

Another option is to create an 'invisible' section link template and use this as the template for the link into your reserved section.

This means that customers will not be able to browse to it, but the product will appear in search results and the section will appear in the site map. If you call the section something like '.', however, then it will be pretty hidden in the site map.

You can select the 'Allow Searching By Sections' box in 'View | Search Settings | Options'. This allows customers to filter the search by section.
