Modifying the checkout page

I have a test site up at the minute,

I have been trying to create a new template from one of actinic existing ones. I have been able to modify most of the site, but for some reason i cant change the checkout design. The html pages i have modified are:

act_primary.html
act_brouchure.html
act_primarycart.html

I tried changing act_primarycheckout.html, but any changes made didnt change anything after i uploaded again.

Any clue what i files i have to change

Is your act_primarycart.html template assigned for checkout phases within Design | Options | Layouts?

Overall design and navigation

I have just set it to the PrimaryCart.html and it works great. Could you tell me if i changed Default Overall Layout to Act_Primary.html, would the whole have the same look? i.e, the navigation would always have the same options and the style would be the same?

Also, not sure if this is possible, but can you change the products navigation from text to an image. I can live with the text, but an image would suit the overall look of the site
