Shipping Emails query

Hi

Could somebody advise me please if when an item is marked as 'Shipped' by pressing the 'Ship' button, a shipped email should be automatically sent or do I have to manually select it and send it through the 'Mail' button?

I'm using Catalog.

Currently you have to do it manually, but V8 has a 'one step order processing' function that includes sending the email.
