Running Catalog V6 and V7 on same PC

    Hello

I'd be grateful for some advise please.

I was wondering if it's possible to run Catalog version 6 and version 7 on the same PC without conflict, and also if I'd be able to export my settings/products from version 6 to version 7 relatively easily?

We already use version 6 for a particular domain, but were looking to set up an essentially identical store on a different domain, so I was going to buy a licence for version 7 for this new domain.

The reason for the identical stores relates to an affiliate scheme we use, which brings in a welcome revenue, and is profitable. Unfortunately it appears quite inconsistent in attributing sales to affiliates when they shouldn't have been - to the point where I've even seen my own test transactions credited to affiliates when I haven't even completed checkout.

The affiliate traffic currently shares the same shopping system as our normal traffic, and code is embedded into act04.html to facilitate it. Despite the things mentioned above, it is set up correctly !!

Without major technical expertise, the simplest solution for me seems to be to have a completely new and standalone system for affiliate traffic, as cross checking whether sales should have been credited to affiliates on a regular basis isn't a cost effective or desirable option really.

Any advise would be gratefully appreciated thanks.

you can run as many versions of catalog as you like, they are all distinct.

Personally I have v5,6,7 and 8 on my machine at the mo.

The only thing to be aware of is all sites within one version will always need to be the same patch level.
