    actinic crashes during upload :(

probably one for the developer guys...

When I try to upload my store, I get the message:
The HTML templates source files (with "SRC" commands) that reside in directories other than the acatalog directory on the web site... bla bla bla
And then Actinic simply shuts down, and I get this standard "send en error report" xp message. Quite annoying actually.
I can't seem to figure out what's wrong, but that's probably because i'm not looking hard enough, I just thougt you Actinic guys ought to know this.

Looks like you have images that catalog is using that are not in your site 1 folder.

You need to put the images in the site 1 folder. You should use relative paths in your templates

gary-> I figured that was the problem, but couldn't find out where the the problem was - well, that seems to be sorted out now... at least i dont get the error message from Actinic

But it still crashes! When it reaches "Reviewing files", it stops

The only thing thats different from the other shops i've created, is that i inserted a flash movie as logo in Act_Primary and Act_BrochurePrimary - simply removed NETQUOTEVAR:LOGOIMAGE and inserted the flash movie using dreamweaver. Could that cause the problem. Do i need to do anything else i Actinic concerning the flash part?
I know I have to insert something, if i want to use a flash movie as product image, but that's not the case here.

by the way, there is no problems at all in Offline Preview

Its kinda strange that Catalog crashes out when you are uploading and not when your are previewing.

        Can i ask some questions;

        1. In Catalog, anything external from the site1 folder (Ie flash, images or sound); are any of these files read-only?

        2. When you get this crash, is it an illegal operation message; if it is, then see if you get a VIEW DETAILS button, if you do, then please copy and paste the details onto the forum. Except for the stack part.

        3. Do a quick test, by going "ADVANCE | NETWORK SETUP" and then click on TEST, does it crash then?

        Kind Regards

          Hi Nadeem.

Yes it is very strange indeed.

          None of them are read-only.

It is the winXP-version og illegal action. Where it apologizes and seems very helpful - even allows u to send an email to microsoft that they wont read in a million years... anyway, here it is: AppName: catalog.exe AppVer: 6.0.1.0 ModName: mfc42.dll

          3. Do a quick test, by going "ADVANCE | NETWORK SETUP" and then click on TEST, does it crash then?
I get an error concerning the SMTP server (we have a 30 sec. delay problem with our router at the moment, which is probably causing this) but i use the same server in other shops, and i just tried uploading one of those again, and it succeeds in uploading.

Just for the heck of it, i tried removing the smtp-server in network setup, and tested it, and it succeeded without errors. But it still crashes during upload.

            Rasmus

You guys have Actinic Cover. Can I suggest giving us a call and organising for one of the team to take a look at a snapshot of your store.

Operating System problems like this are tough to diagnose on a forum.

Did this problem get fixed folks?

I seem to have a similar problem on Windows ME with Developer 6.0.2. Falls over in the same place (after the "SRC=" message in Review Files) with the following error message appearing :-

"Catalog has caused an error in MFC42.DLL. Catalog will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer." <Close>

Have re-installed MFC42.DLL but no joy.
I have raised it as Support Query 00004633, but if you guys have the fix please let me know

              cheers
              Richard.

You have to specify the Flash movie in Advanced>Additional Files

having the same problem over again....drives me crazy.

last time i could fix it by licensing a new site, and copying all the files from the old site and then it worked. It wont this time, and thats so #)=%(")% annoying!

I have had a look at Rasmus's Snapshot and it looks like the registry details have become corrupted with regards to when the store was last uploaded.

Rasmus eventually fixed this by licensing a new site, transferring all his data across to the new site, and then removing the corrupt one.

Just to let you folks know, that after two months of technical support interchange, we have finally got a solution to the problem of MFC42.DLL crash during upload.

It was caused by having no active products in any of the catalog sections (in our case all products were deleted). Essentially you must have at least one product active in the site (hidden if necessary) or Actinic 6.02 causes a divide by zero error in MFC42.DLL. Support call 00004633 refers.

                      Hope this helps.

                      Richard.
