I'm guessing (and trying to promote this post back to the top for you) that its somewhere in your Network Settings. You've put in an unnecessary 'acatalog'.

PS. I hated reading Miffy to my daughter as a bedtime story. There's no words and not even a decent picture to talk about (rant over).

Ok I have got rid of the extra: /acatalog. simply by cutting and pasting the content to the right place and this seems to work:

However the Web Config, cannot find the cgi-bin and gets stuck guessing the cgi-bin address.

This for me is the most depressing part of the process because I never understand it!

Any ideas, anyone?

What host are you using? Have you tried searching the forum on the host name as the problem comes up quite frequently (not surprising)? You may need to export you network settings and post them here for further help (remember to edit out your username and password from the settings).

I have done all of this but the actinic programme when it finds the cgi-bin comes up with the error:

Your CGI server has requested you use .../error404.html sd your CGI URL.

If you say 'yes' it repeats. If you say 'no' the installation stops!

Did you do this?
I seem to remember I had to manually create a cgi-bin diorectory initially on 1and1. The permissions should work at 755 for both catalog and cgi-bin - that's how mine are set.

cgi-bin is 755

Jo - I was going to post 777 for acatalog and then checked my settings on 1and1 and it is set (same as cgi-bin) to 755 and works ok.

Thanks to all.

I have made all these changes, but I still get an error message saying the cgi-bin URL is error_message_404.html.

Time to stop messing about and talk to the client and NetBenefit.

I have been looking at the posting and I don't even know if this is a Linux or Windows server.

I'll keep you posted once I have a solution!
