    Hi all!

I am new to this forum and have had my actinic store up and running since Feb. I know it has been well covered on here but I seem to be getting nowhere with google (doing well from ppc campaign though!).
Is it worth getting in a SEO or is there anything I can do myself to boost my rankings?

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve

    Welcome Steve.
Search on the forum here and you will find loads of information regarding DIY SEO. I doubt it would be worth getting an SEO company to do the work for - hardly any would know the ins and outs of Actinic and judging from other posts on the forum here could well be a waste of money.

Have a good read - ask some questions if unsure - after that decide whether you can do it yourself (it's not rocket science, just common sense) or if you need so called 'specialist' help.

      Hi Steve,

      getting nowhere with google
What exactly do you mean by this? Presumably you are talking about getting a natural search presence.

I too, have been up and running since Feb. and I'm finding it slow going on Google. I am making some progress - mostly in less-popular key phrases. I think its just a long-haul operation.

Are your pages indexed? Do yo uknow what your page rank is? How are you doing on the other search engines?

Your site may still be in the sandbox - search this forum for that word.

As has been said, it takes time to get a presence on Google. they seem to update their index lists about once a month. It's generally believed that having a PPC campaign gets your site indexed more quickly. My site have been indexed (took a couple of months) and I do run a PPC campaign.

Search the web for "Search Engine Optimisation" and you will find many lengthy articles.
Here's a couple to get you started:

          http://www.selfpromotion.com/

          There is no quick-fix solution.

......And, as Duncan suggested do a search on this forum (type 'SEO' or SEO tips - or something like that) and you'll get loads of good info, most of which is geared to actinic sites.

There are lots of extremely knowledgeable people that post advice on this forum (I don't count myself among them!), but they understandably get abit bored of giving the same advice again and again - so do a good search first, and if you can't find what you are looking for, ask.

            Hope that helps.
