Email Error Message

When I try and send confirmation emails from actinic it says 'Failed to communicate with the SMTP server.' and I get the following error message

"Error returned from SMTP server (4: sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)"

Does anyone know what that means and how to solve it?

I've got localhost in the SMTP box in network settings and when I test, everything comes back as passed and I receive the test email fine.

is your sending email address on the same domain name as your website?

yup

and for some reason it seems to happily let me send emails to myself, but no-one else!

Your Host should set the SMTP server to allow you to send e-mails to any recipient. In your case this seems to be set to allow sending only to the local recipient.

I think the solution to this is the one bill posted in the other thread. i.e. use oneandone not 1and1 in the server name and make sure all the authentication stuff is turned off.

I think my SMTP settings were the problem here. Don't want to count my chickens, but it's looking fixed now.
