Add to cart-cgi scripts-working from some sections and not others.

Hi all,

This is driving me mad. If anybody can help with this I'd really appreciate it.

Background info: Have just moved hosting of our store www.babysleepshop.com to Clientel (Andy has been great) following massive problems with uk2.net (probably lost about £1000 in orders).

Store seemed to upload ok.

However, when trying to add to cart from some of the store sections we receive the following message:-

A General Script Error Occurred

Error: The specified product (reference 1014) has just been removed from the catalog. Please return to the catalog and continue shopping. If you press the Refresh or Reload button on your browser, the removed products will no longer be visible in the catalog. We apologize for the inconvenience.

The weird thing is if I copy a product from a section that is not working to one that is working then I can add to cart with no problems.


Any new sections I create do not allow any of the products to be added to the cart.

I can take a section which is working and change the page title and page name and it continues to work, however if I copy and paste a working section and then rename it the products will not add to basket.

I'm convinced it is something to do with the store sections names/titles/ or paths to the cgi-bin but I am at my wits end as there seems to be no common properties of working/non-working sections.

Some are main sections some are sub-sections, it just appears to be totally random.

I have compacted the database, have taken snapshots and have refreshed and uploaded the site several times.

Any ideas?

Which is an exact copy of the first and none of the products will add to cart.

When looking at page source the coding appears the same.


I am truly stumped.

There's something weird happening with you product references. Actinic uses a unique reference for every product (including duplicates). Duplicates get 1!<prodref>, 2!<prodref>, for the 1st Duplicate, 2nd, etc.

However what's happening on your site is that the faulty page is being generated with an identical product reference to the original (the 1! bit is missing).

Unfortunately I can't help with working out how this has happened or what can be done to fix it. Hopefully someone else may know from the clues above.

At least this gives me another avenue to explore. I had noticed the ! and wondered what it meant.

Anybody else got any other ideas?

The plot thickens. I managed to download your A000116.cat file (this should contain info about all the products in the
http://www.babysleepshop.com/acatalo...lour_Bags.html page. However I got this

Which implies an empty Section.

The problem now seems to show as two things.

1) Actinic is generating a page with identical product references to another page.

2) The .cat file for that page contains no products.

Still don't know why.

Maybe Nick, you could explain how you created the "copy of" section.

Since it is v7 you are using, I'd expect the answer to be by using duplicates. I'm just going down the route of trying to establish why you have a section called copy of with the same products as the original section, as thiscould lead us to determine how the problem has arisen

Thanks, that was for a demonstration!

Whilst trying to work out what was happening, I decided to try some things to see what if..

We normally use duplicates but in this case I just copied one section and then pasted it. (This may have happened a couple of times, whilst I was trying to replicate/solve the problem).

As it appears to be something to do with Actinic referencing/database and not the server/hosting I am currently refreshing the whole site from a back-up of the site I made a few days ago.

I will let you know how I get on.

Refreshed site from backup file seems to have worked.
