Unable to open the resigry key

Hi i am working on an Actinic 7 site where i am gettting the following message

"unable to open the registry key "software/actinic/catalog7/sites/ticket. The system cannot find the file specified."

Actinic does open but i cannot make a snapshot or upload - when the same message appears.

Any ideas as to how this may have occured as Actinic worked previously and this seems to have occured for some reason??

    Hi there,

Has there been any new firewall or Antivirus program (or an upgrade) installed on your machine after which this error pops up ? It's possible that one of these programs in the process of 'securing' the system registry are infact blocking Actinic as well. We could try turning them off and then test to see if it works fine now.
    Kind Regards,

        Hi,

Please open the registry from the command Prompt, Run | Cmd | regedit and look in

        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Actinic\Catalog7\Sites\ticket\Catalog

        HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Actinic\Catalog7\Sites\ticket\Catalog

The 'AuthorizationKey' value in here must match the one in Actinic, House Keeping | Security.

        Kind regards,

Hi - yes i have looked in the registry and i see 3 different versions!!

          HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Actinic\Catalog7\Sites\Site1
          HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Actinic\Catalog7\Sites\Ticket
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Actinic\Catalog7\Sites\tickets4u - this had a different Authorization key - not what i bought basically

Local machine has 2 entries also both with the same authorisation key - but not tickets4u:

          HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Actinic\Catalog7\Sites\ticket\Catalog
          HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Actinic\Catalog7\Sites\Site1\Catalog

            Hi,

I would suggest raising a support query for this one please @ http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm. We will need to take a look at your Database to be able to determine what is causing this issue.

Did you at any time licence a site called 'tickets4u' or import a snapshot as that is one of the two ways this could have happened.

            Kind regards,
            Bruce King

before i do that - my client is asking if a straight removal and re-installation of Actinic would be better? Is this advisable?

                Hi,

Yes, you can try that. Uninstall, delete the folder in Program Files, then do a clean install, that should solve the issue. If not the support ticket is the route to take.

                Kind regards,
