Background colours not workings :(

my back ground colours don't seem to want to work, all im getting is a plain white which i do not want

i have change the colours in design|colours

and have used the radio button in design|Options|site defualts to select a colour

what am i doing wrong?

Have you selected Background as Colour in Design|Options - Site Defaults?

Also, which theme are you using?

can't remember now, but sorted colours by editing the html templates
