Email templates

I have tried to modify the templates so that they are shown in Danish, eg. the "Payment Receipt" email.

However most of the text strings cannot be translated neither from Design > Text, nor from Advanced > Template Manager > Miscellaneous > Payment Recv.
I've even done a Windows text search to find strings as "Shipping Method" etc., but with no luck so far.

Are some of the text for these templates hidden in Crystal Reports or could someone please tell me how to make these translations ? Thanks.

If you are using a U.K keyboard use the hold the ALT key and the set of numbers you wish

ø This is ALT 155
Ü This is ALT 154
ƒ This is ALT 159 ect

I have tried searching back with no luck. Unfortunately!

To clarify my question: It has nothing to do with national characters, its a matter of finding out how to translate the standard text. Eg. the text "___Customer/Recipient Details___". This text is not part of the template , and neither is this text found under Design > Text. SOmehow it must be included in NETQUOTEVAR:CUSTOMER_DATA ?? or a heading from Crystal Reports ??

I think that the texts strings that you want to translate are in the OrderScript.pl file (and maybe some other .pl files?).

Be careful to change only the strings when modifying these Perl files!

Actually these text strings should be modifiable via the Design Text feature of Actinic but the developers have obviously not got round to changing that part yet... We live in hope

Thanks Gary. Had a look at the site, but honestly I do not understand how I can use this in relation to my question.
Cris probably is nearer to the answer, but having looked into the Pearl file I must admit that I cannot find the solution.

When calling the NETQUOTEVAR, somewhere it must add these fixed string texts. But I just cannot figure out from where !?!?

have you tried looking up the actinic help file for Act_Order04.html? this will list all the netqutevars and where the text for them can be found.

alternatively make a new template and use only the variables you need (and can find). make the rest hard coded text.

If I remember correctly the answer was that some of the text in the emails is hard coded into the application and so cannot be changed by the user.

Thanks to all of you. I must say that this is a somewhat surprising conclusion considering the extent to which Actinic is elsewhere customisable. Haven't upgraded to 6.10 yet, but seemingly the answer is not to be found here.

I think I am one of the very few Danish customers using Actinic. Such things have to be dealt with to offer a decent alternative for non-english speaking countries. I'm a embarrased to send these mixed language emails to my customers - and who wouldn't be ????

There used to be a danish reseller - I don't have his contact details but Actinic should have them - he should be able to give you the best advice about what to do.
