Is it possible to have an attribute name appear as an image on the product pages, rather than text??

I have tried entering an img tag inside !!< >!! but it does not get parsed into html..

Where are you entering the img tag?

Some areas in Actinic need the html markers and others do not.

Yep, that is html - no markers required, just straight html code.
