Lost Product Key

We have had a major hard-drive failure and have had to re-install Actinic V7. I have all my back-ups but I am unable to locate my product key. Is there any way that I can extract this from the files I have i.e. site 1 etc., or can Actinic tell me what it is?

My website designer (Gary Hay) had the software but never sent it to me and I have mislaid details of the key.

The key is stored in the registry so your regular backups may not help. If you have kept a file called OverwrittenSite.zip, that may have been created during an upgrade, then inside that you may see a file called ActRegistrybackup.reg - the key would be contained in this file. I don't know of anywhere else this is stored.

Your designer should have passed all the software and keys etc on to you when they completed the site - if not you should ask them to do so.

Failing that, contact Actinic, presumably with proof of purchase.

Thanks for that. Have found the Overwrittensite.zip and the ActRegistryBackup file but I am unable to unzip the file as it asks for a password and I have no idea what this is.

I have already contacted Actinic and I am awaiting their response.
