    General Script Error?

    Hi,

    Ref URL: www.modellersmecca.co.uk
    I get this....

    A General Script Error Occurred

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error: ../acatalog/86Z138Z247Z109A1155634629B24159.session can not be locked during Session init!

after proceeding to checkout. Sometimes it will get as far as asking your country, sometimes it wont.

    Any help greatfully received.

    Many thanks,
    Mark.

I have since found that this error only occurs when PayPal is selected as a method of payment in the Business Settings under Payments.

I have searched the forums and found there have been problems with PayPal and the fixes havent worked for me.

    Please help!

    Mark.

Will upgrading to v8 solve this issue?

        Mark,

This appears not to be limited to only using Paypal, I had it happen on the firstpage of checkout. Upgrading to v8 will not make a difference.

Please try this. In Advanced | Network Setup, change the number of the Script ID or increment it by 1 and then refresh your website. Let su know if the issue still persists.

        Kind regards,

Ok, when changing the script ID I did a test as it recommends before uploading.

I get this error on testing....

          The check script sent an invalid response (91, ntent-type: text/plain Content-length: 9
          Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2006 21:15:15 GMT

20000110 ). Retry the test. If the problem persists and you are unable to upload your store contact you Actinic reseller or Actinic support as appropriate.

.... Then on clicking OK I get this:

The test script failed to execute on the web server. The error could be caused by several things. Check the path to the Perl shell, the CGI script extension, the path to CGI-BIN, and the CGI-BIN URL. This error could also occur if your web site is out of disk space or your web server is not configured to accept POSTs to CGI scripts.

On trying to upload the site, Actinic stops responding after uploading files. It freezes on a different file each time.

Thanks for all your help so far!

          Mark.

            usual questions

who is your host, what package do you have, are you hosting on windows or linux, please post network settings without passowrds.

Have you phoned your host to see if they have changed something, permissions for example in the past few days

                  Host: Servage.net
                  Hosting on: Linux
Have I phoned: No, contacted by email (awaiting reply).
Other network settings excluding passwords: Look, I'm a shop keeper not a techie. Tell me exactly what you need to know and I'll do my best to find it out for you.

And right now you have a technical problem, so you need to cut the attitude. The first place to start is to furnish us with the information we need to help you diagnose your problem.

Try a search on the community on the keyword "network settings" and try to educate yourself rather than expect us to supply a solution through telepathy.

But my gut feeling is that your host has changed something so your first priority is to speak with them

                            Mark,

The network test fails for me at the same point. You need this sorted by your hosting company. The scripts do not have permission to post to the cgi-bin on your server and that is the root cause of the problem. Please send them the error message you get and tell them that the cgi-bin requires 755 permissions and the acatalog folder 777 permissions.

                            Kind regards,
                            Bruce King

I have checked the permissions for both those folders and can confirm they are both set as you stated above.

Do the files within those folders have to carry the same permission values?

                              Mark.
