Change catalogbody.html

I'd like to change/elminate my catalogbody.html page as I've created a storefront style page independently.

How can I change or delete it without it effecting the entire catalog?

I think you need to do the reverse. Use catalogbody to create your customised store front

I have a customized template in use for the catalog pages, so how do I customize the catalogbody.html page to look like my shop page?

I know even if I upload an overide, anytime I refresh my website through Actinic it will automatically post back up the old catalogbody.html design.

You need to examine the netquote vars to decide which ones you want, and then create your new catalog body from your design popping the netquotevars in where appropriate

I'm not sure why the front page of your store is called 'catalogbody.html' rather than 'index.html'.

Could you not just call your customised page 'index.html' and then upload it to the 'acatalog' folder alongside the 'catalogbody.html' file?

Alternatively, change the 'Base Page Name' in 'Design Options | Defaults' to 'index.html' and then just upload your manually created 'catalogbody.html' file alongside it.

Here's what I have done...

I don't know if this is what you are referring to but I created an opening page which directs the customers through the site. They can go to Catalogbody.html from my index page. This also allows me the control of changing specials, moving things around, gives a complete design control without going into the actinic pages and code....

Thanks for all your replies. I haven't figured out what is best for me to do just yet, but I did simplify my catalogbody page by reducing clutter.

I will certainly take someone's advice somewhere though.

How did you do that? I would really be interested in you technique. Was that done in something like dreamweaver and pasted in as HTML?

I designed our shop page in Dreamweaver, along with the corresponding Actinic_Primary.html to match.

I just couldn't find any Actinic templates I liked or that would match my page design idea, but of course that's not saying anything bad about Actinic. If a user had no HTML knowledge it is perfect.

Oh and I manipulated graphics mainly in Photoshop, occassionally using Illustrator too to get some basic layouts.

I can probably do pretty much the same thing using Fireworks. That look is something that I will just have to 'steal', I have been looking for something which will make a one page interface and have tried several different looks, that one is fantastic!

I will go back to the drawing board and see what comes out of this imagination of mine.

No problem...we have to get our influences from somewhere.

I can't tell you exactly how I came up with the idea, it just seemed appropriate for us since we don't use "people" models on our apparel.

I'm still working out the bugs in other browsers though. It doesn't look very good on Mac I'm afraid.
