    Deleting a problem order

Somehow we've got a problem/corrupted order. Downloaded fine, printed data report as normal, nothing strange whatsoever. But now, when you try to open it, either by right click then `view order`, or by double clicking it, the Catalog then closes down. It cannot be deleted via normal means because as soon as you select it the catalog closes down.

I assume, since we've got all the info off the data report, I'd be just as well to delete it via the database? ActinicCatalog.mdb, then the orders table? Then what? Just to be on the safe side...

PS: Phoned support about 2pm about this yesterday, still waiting on the phone call back...

Thought I'd add. Have tried compacting the Catalog. Also compacted and repaired the ActinicCatalog.mbd file via Access.

    Still the same.

I'v e never tried this, but in Access you can open the order table and delete the offending order row. (Obviously backup first!!!) Might be worth a try.

I am aware of this, but like yourself I've never done it before so I was kinda hoping for a little reassurance that it was the correct method/thing to do in this case.

Have you tried using cut (CTRL-X) rather than delete?

Also you could try marking it as deleted using my mark deleted batch order processor (let me know if you need a new trial for that).

Failing both of those deleting the row in the order table should work however, take a copy of the database before you make the change, and compact and repair the database from Actinic afterwards.

            George,

You would want to get rid of all the data for the order, so when you open the order table, you would need to find the InvoiceContactID and DeliveryContactID in the Order table and delete the rows in the Person table that have each of those values in the ContactID column.

Then take note of the first column (Order Sequence Number) value in the order table and open the OrderDetail table. Delete each row in the OrderDetail table that has the same Order Sequence Number.

Then you can delete the row from the Order table.

You would, of course, make a backup of the database before you do this, just in case something goes wrong.
