Customvar in packing/delivery note?

Each of my products has a part number which I need to be on the packing/delivery note - I know the report can be modified with Crystal Reports, but before I go off and buy it can someone confirm that customvar work in these reports...?

Customvars probably won't be passed to these reports.

There are three possible solutions, neither of which require Crystal.

1) Patch Perl (OrderScript.pl) to pass this customvar as data attached to an existing field.

2) Store this information (or a copy of it) in the Report Description field. This is a product tab that's invisible until you enable it in View / Business Setting / Options.

3) Use this number as your Product Reference. You'll need to disable Auto Generate Product References in View / Business Setting / Options.

You can access custom vars in the reports actually, you have to use a left join against the product properties table and HTML variables table against the product reference in the order details line. You would have to muck about a bit if you wanted defaults to be picked up.

This may not work with V8 though because UPDs (which have replaced customvars) can be inherited from the parent or site.
