How to apply coupons in checkout?

The procedure for adding a coupon in the basket is simple - enter the code and press 'update'. Then the discount is applied and the customer can see it.

However, how does it work when entering the code in the checkout? There is no update button so I would assume that the coupon code is read and applied when the customer presses 'next' to go to the next checkout stage - but this appears not to be the case.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

John I am having the same problems - see my post above. It used to work fine for me but now for some reason has stopped. It will give discount to customer and show on their receipt but from a cust perspective needs to show in cart. Hopefully someone can help us both.

Hi Jonh

I've fixed my problem which should help you hopefully. In the set up tab there is a drop down which relates to tax - if you set this to use defalut tax the discount apears when you click the next button i.e. before you enter payment. We only use simple tax and don;t have it desplay anywhere so it has no impact on me not sure what the impact owuld be if you use tax though. Hope it helps u though D
