Automaticly change settings with product duplicates

Hi, i have set my site up with a 1 product per page layout, with index pages that have product duplicate on em

    Examples
    Index Page
    Product Page

Now as you can guess, the more product that get put on the page the more often i will be setting up duplicates, is there a way of making any product duplicates have some default settings
    These would be:-
Automaticaly use a different template (for the 3 on one line effect)
Change the "price" message (default for site is the text "price" i remove it for dupes)
remove any popup page links, (i use the more info button to link to the main product page)

Is this possible or do i manualy have to change em for EVERY product

You can set this at the section level (page) - unless someoneknows some tricky database hack this will be a manual setting

have you tried commenting the link out of the amended Act_ProductLine.html template?

depending on what you are trying to achieve you could try removing the default and using a CUSTOMVAR / Javascript to invoke the info as and where required not sure on this last item

      Andrew,

The 'classic' solution to the layout involves setting up a sub-section for each index page entries (using the same image and text), and then hanging the product off the sub section. The problem with this technique is the index page cannot show the price or add-to-cart button; it can only link to the product. I should know, I have this problem.

Hi, i am quite happy with the layout of the site,
I have the index page and then sub sections for each 'single product page' with the subsections hidden
This setup is exactly what i want, i am just trying to automate the process of changeing the duplicates

You can set this at the section level (page) - unless someoneknows some tricky database hack this will be a manual setting
Correct this can be set at section level, the problem being all my single product pages are sub sections of the 'index' pages, so each of them would then have to be changed from "use parent" to a normal template, thus meaning i am doing the same job, just the other way round!!

have you tried commenting the link out of the amended Act_ProductLine.html template?
No i havent but good thinking!! will try that

depending on what you are trying to achieve
Basicaly on the single product pages i have the price labeled as
        PRICE
        £blah
but on the duplicate products on the index pages i want to remove the word PRICE, i think this i probably easier if i just get rid of the "price" text all to gether (but keep the £blah bit) as i think its kind of obvious if you see a number with a £ sigh next to a product its likely to be the price
