Same menu throughout

I'd like to have a single menu that is consistant whether you are viewing a brochure or a catalog page.

To achieve this I thought it easiest to have a copy aof the menu that appears on brochure pages appear above the menu thats in catalog pages and visa versa.

I'm probably stumbling in the dark a bit but . . , having looked at Act_Brochure_Primary it appears to be NETQUOTEVAR:HEADERGUIDE that delivers the brochure menu. However if I copy this in to Act_Primary I seem to get a duplicate of the catalog menu (2 identical menus)!

If there is anybody there with the light on could they shine it in my direction

The best way to achieve a consistent menu is to use the existing navigation and add the necessary bits using the relevant Netquotevar for the bit you want. Take a look at the Advanced Users Guide page 14 for 'Inserting individual navigation buttons'.
