    cgi or cgi/php server package

hi there i have been informed that our server requires us to update our servers to allow cgi and perl.

However our provider has come back with the following options.
either: cgi or: cgi / php
neither has the perl are any of these the correct packages?

cgi stands for common gateway interface.

.pl or perl files are resident in the cgi-bin
    perl is a cgi.

edit: and as for actinic, you wont need php, but if its free, then go for it, you might use it later on.

Yes, but as Gabriel says, if php is at no extra cost take it! You might want to run a php based forum/newsletter/whatever at some time in the future.
