...and wondering if its possible to get only the brochure bages online initially. No reference on the site to the catalog pages at all. I know you can hide sections etc, but I'd also need the Catalog link removed. Unable to find the answer with the `search` facility on here.

If it is the Enter Shop link you are referring to which acts as the first step to the catalogue, it might help to simply clear the 3 fields in :
Design| Options|Brochure, under "Link to Catalog". And this can be reinstated when you are ready to launch the rest of the site.

I'll try that lass, thanks very much, although I thought there was maybe a cheeky wee box hidden away somewhere that needed ticked (or indeed unticked).
