    Problem with checkout

    Hello everyone,

We've had a reported problem on our site - tradehandles.co.uk - where users cannot get past the second stage of the checkout.

They can add items to the basket and go to checkout and select their location but when they click ‘Continue’ nothing happens. They've tried deleting cookies and trying again but with the same effect.

We've also had reports of another problem where users add items to their basket but they don't appear and they can't checkout.

We've been unable to replicate these problems, so we'd be grateful if anyone could try adding any item to their basket and checking-out on the site and see if they can get to the second stage (where you enter your address) to determine how common the problem is; or if anyone knows what the problem is.

    Many thanks.
    Steve

    Steve,

It works just fine. I added some products to cart, checked out, went to the CC page, returned, chose 'Print an invoice ...' option and checked out with no problems. Please ignore Order Number: AT423110002297.

    Kind regards,

Sorry to bump this problem but I have the same problem I'm getting at least 1 customer a day is phoning saying they can put items into the cart but then when they try and proceed nothing happens.

Is there any known problems? I've heard something about symantic on a previous post, should we be instructing customers on any known problems? - when I try and checkout it works fine.

      Thanks in advance

        Hi Hadyn

The only thing I can think of is there is something on your client's machines that is not allowing the page to automatically forward to the SSL checkout. This could well be something like Norton Internet Security, which is set too high, and does not allow automatic forwarding.

Norton Person Firewall has a setting for allow/disable meta refresh. You could ask customers to 'allow' this feature and then try entering the checkout again.

We've had the same problems ad infinitum

No matter who we've hosted with, and whatever version of actinic we've always had customers who cannot proceed through checkout and have posted multiple times looking for a solution (we cannot replicate nor can anybody we know!).

So far as I can see, the cart is either broke or it aint - it doesn't pick or chose who it will let checkout and who it won't - so it must be down to something on the user's PC.

Our site has recently moved to a faster server due to the volume of traffic, so that resolves any speed issues during peak times that could have caused bomb outs. But despite this we're still getting the customers who can't check out (at least 1 a day like Mr Bump) - even customers who a few weeks ago could order no problem.

This again brings it back to the conclusion that something on the user's PC has changed in some way. It would be great to have a definitive check list that we could email customers to work their way through to hopefully get them back on track.

Anybody up for collaboration on this?
