Force line break in compact html

Hi,

does anyone know how I can force a line break in the compacted html? I need to get a </ul> tag onto another line to cure an IE5 (Mac) float bug.

If you add a line break <br /> in uncompacted html, it will still be there when the html is compacted - its only white space and comments that are removed by compacting.

Ahh, yes that won't do it - I need a carriage return ideally. It's a very annoying bug in the browser.
