when an order has been placed on my site?

I can pick up my emails through my mobile so this facility would be very useful.

I do get alerts from my payment service provider when a customer uses their card to pay, but I have no way of telling when a customer has chosen to pay by cheque or PO.

Any ideas?

You can send emails to your phone from outlook using certain addons (I can't recommend one but have seen several advertised) so I would suggest setting up a rule to look for your 'An order has arrived' email and then forwarding it on to your telephone.

I had a idea for an add-on that would basically text your mobile when an order came in telling you who it was from and how much it was for. The idea being that if you were enjoying a nice long lunch break on a friday afternoon you could relax and enjoy knowing what orders where arriving. I haven't worked out how to do it yet though.

I guess another suggestion would be to use a phone that can access the internet and check your email occasionally.

Having said that I don't know how to do this - maybe I do.

I have a product that can email a copy of an invoice out as orders arrive, it can also use a modified invoice report that is stored in your site directory. So maybe this would work if you make your invoice report small enough. The thing that I don't understand is how the email arrives on the phone if you send it to the telephone.

What happens with a telephone if you send it an email message with an attachment?

I don't think I was clear in my request.

Can I set up Actinic to send an email (not a text message) to a specific address when an order arrives on the site.

So imagine I am out for the afternoon... there is nobody in the office to download the orders so can Actinic send me an email every time an order is placed at the site level?

Getting the email to my mobile is not a problem - I have text alerts setup so that when email is sent to one of my email addresses, I am alerted.

Then all I do is connect to WAP and read the mail.

Any ideas?

Actinic can send you a copy of the order received email that is sent to the customer - go to view business settings/ordering and enter your email address into the 'send email receipt copies to' box.

... no addon required, it works straight out of the box :-)

There is the "Email Required on New Order" option on the Business Settings|Orders tab. When this option is selected then an automatic mail is sent to your email address if a new order is placed.
