    Components in Cart

    Hi all,

I've search the forum and I know a few people have raised this issue but no one seems to have come up with an answer (as far as I can see).

It not a critical problem but just looks rubbish. Here the problem:-

I have created products with various choices - ie. size and colour, and linked them to hidden products for stock control reasons.
I have created them by 1st creating a component, then an attribute then a series of choices. These permintations are then linked to what I call my "product bank" of items of each type so I can track stock control, with a pricing = overirde. The Pricing Model is "product price" on the main product.

This all works fine my stock control and postage all works fine. But one silly little problem. When the customer buys a item the component show as a seperate line ie It appears that the choice is an extra item not just the choices of one item.

might be easier to check out the problem for yourself

I'm sure there must be a way of making the "choices" appear as part of the description of the main item. But I cant see how.

maybe I'm just being thick or maybe this will be all sorted in V8. if it is it might be better to wait a few weeks as I intend to migtrate to V8 asap.

Any help would be great though

    cheers

You need to tick component shown as seperate order line in the General : Component Details --- then in the General tab of the original product tick Pricing Model : Sum of component parts -- you will then be able to tick : No order line for main product
This works and shows only the component ie size/color on the basket, invoice & packing list.
BEWARE : there is a known bug (over a year old!) that allows customer to order more of a component than you have in stock! see http://community.actinic.com/showthread.php?t=13966

      Thanks

Ok I can see that works.

      BUT

the whole point of the way I've setup my site is so that customer can't order items I dont have in stock. I think I'd rather have the old slightly messy way of items appearing in the cart compared to people order Items I dont have.

Is this bug fixed in v8? or is their a better way of doing it in v8?

      Anyway thanks for the help

I think I answered this on the v8 forum.
