    Inconsistent 'return to catalog'

If I navigate to a product or duplicate and add it to the basket, then press the 'return to catalog' button it returns me to the product page.

If I SEARCH for the product, click onto the product page from the search results, add the product to the basket, then press the 'return to catalog' button it returns me to the HOME page (which is my search page).

Why? On both occasions I pressed the 'add to basket' from the same product page - how I got to the product page would seem irrelevent.

I am not able to replicate that happening on a default store using the smart theme. Which site is this happening on? Do any of those sites use frames?

    Kind regards,

This is my new site which is based on the default theme, no frames. The site is currently on a test server but I will be uploading it sometime this week.

If it helps I did some more testing and found that the 'quick search' returns to the correct place (the product page), it is only when I use the main search on the homepage that it returns to the homepage.

I have 'view|search|Show Searching on Front Page' ticked.

Check the URL in the address bar when you link to a product. If it is a link via a perl script in the cgi-bin, it means you have search keyword highlighting switched on. Then when you add to cart, Actinic will take you back to the last '*.html' page you were on - which will be your front page.

Try disabling search result highlighting in 'View | Search Settings | Results' and see if this helps.

Yeah, that was exactly the problem - well spotted.

Just another quick question on a related subject...

When linking to the product page from the search results the format is -

          http://www.mysite.com/acatalog/product-page.html#a1165

The #a number at the end causes the page to scroll down to the exact product in a list of products, which is normally what you would want it to do.

However, my new store is a 1-product-per-section store so the result from the search will always be the correct product - and that #a number is scrolling the nav bar and logos off the top of the page.

Any way to ditch the #a number from the search results?

Not exactly - but if you remove the <a name="...">...</a> tag from the product template, the browser won't be able to find the anchor so it will just go to the top of the page.
