    Shipping costing to much

    Hi There,

Im posting on behalf of my client in regards to his shipping issue he has which he said is I quote "basically, the total weight for a order was 7.5 kg it calculated the charges as £17.00 + v.a.t, for a next day by 3pm service. it should have been £10.00. The costing structure for this service in our business settings is 1kg = £5, up to 5kg = £6, up to 10kg is £7, anything over this is charged 30p extra per 1kg"

I do have his shipping.csv file which I could email to anyone that think it may be worth a look also I have attached a screenshot of his Shipping Settings in Actinic.

Also the website address is www.progrow.co.uk encase you need to see it.

Version he uses is Actinic V 6

    Many thanks in advance

    Angi

Not sure how you arrive at £10.00.

7.5 kg is less than 10 kg so would fall in the £7.00 bracket.

These sort of problems can usually be traced to products being marked as "ship separately" and so instead of 7.5 = £10.00, you get 3kg = £6.00 plus 4kg = £6.00 plus 0.5kg = £5.00 - total £17.00....

      Hi There,

I have quickly tested the products and ship separately is not selected.

Whats also strange is I select a product that weighs 5kg it costs me £6 postage if I add two it costs £12 if add 3 its costs £18 and so on.

      Please help im very confused.

      Thanks

Is there an optimum package weight set, which would also cause packages to be split down instead of using an accumulated total weight.

Im not sure I understand. In product details 5kg is set for the product weight of the item im testing and in business settings> shipping and handling the default weight is set at 1kg is this what you mean?

          Thanks

Next to default weght on the View | Business Settings - Shipping and Handling tab, there is a second input box for optimal package weight. A value here will make Actinic try to make several packages at that weight rather than one heavier package.

              No this is also blank.

I imported the shipping details as a .csv file to a test site uploading one product and seeing if it added the shipping on correctly and it worked as it should adding on the correct shipping costs, so I know the shipping is set up correctly.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Please try compacting your Databases , Catalog and Shipping and then refresh the site. Let us know if this has helped ot not.
