    FTPing Image Files

We've not gone 'live' yet but I'm finding that when I upload our website to the web that it's taking ages because we have a lot of levels and sublevels in our tree and most of our 4500 products have an image, extended info page and enlarged image.

On our old website image files were FTP'd and held on our host's server. I wondered whether this is possible on Actinic as I'm guessing this would save upload time. I've tried changing the Image File path to http: etc, etc but Actinic doesn't like it.

Am I wishing for the impossible?

That's exactly how Actinic works too. Once you've done the initial Update or Refresh all the files including your images are FTP'd (by Actinic) onto your server.

Subequently there are 2 ways of updating your site - Update and Refresh.

On Updates Actinic won't need to upload your images as they're already there. Only changed files get uploaded.

The Refresh command tells Actinic that you want to replace everything on the server, so be prepared for a long wait if you use that.

Using Update is the quickest way to maintain your site - if you've only changed a few products, then only those pages and any new images will be uploaded.

You should only need Refresh if something's gone missing from your server.
