    Error when opening actinic

    Hi

A customer has emailed us with a problem saying that when they try and open their shop, they get the following error message:

Your system isn't configured correctly and Actinic Ecommerce cannot function. This is normally caused by the database components currently installed, and is acknowledged by Microsoft as a problem (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/te...edistmdac.htm).

In most cases it can be corrected by installing the latest copy (at least version 2.1.2.4202.3 but not later than 2.5 SP1) of "Microsoft Data Access Components" or "MDAC" which can be downloaded from Microsoft. MDAC 2.5 is also supplied on the on Catalog install CD. If need to download it from Microsoft, click on the first link below to open your browser at the relevant page, and then follow the appropriate links.

After installing the new version of MDAC you may have to uninstall and then reinstall Actinic Ecommerce to obtain full functionality.

If you require any further assistance please contact your vendor. Contact details are available by clicking on the second link below.
Has anyone come across this issue before? If we fiollow the steps it gives in the message, will it lose any data?

    Thanks

    Martin

You should not lose any data - but as ever best to take a backup of any sensitive data (not just Actinic) .. it is the MS database components that are faulty not Actinic so it should not affect the Actinic install.

If they are unable to open may be worth taking a full site1 copy to be on the safe side
