1 Product per Section - feed question

For those of you who have 1 product per section style websites what do you do regarding your duplicate products in shopping feeds (eg. froogle, kelkoo etc)?

The problem I have is that I have a number of products which are suitable for different printers. Eg. An EP87 cartridge can be used in HP LJ2550, LJ2820, LJ2840, Canon LBP2410 and LBP5200 printers.

Rather than create one EP87 product and use a duplicate for each printer I created a different product for each (eg. EP87 for LJ2550, EP87 for LJ2820 etc). This seemed a better idea from an SEO point of view but now I have a few issues with the feeds - for example shopzilla requires the proper manufacturers ID for each cartridge so it can group them with the same item from other suppliers (which isn't a problem, I have that in a custom field) but it also throws out products with duplicate IDs so is only accepting part of my feed.

Anyone else got this problem, or think of a solution?

If you use our product mash to generate your feed there is an option to omit the final section from the section hierarchy that is generated for the feed.

There is also a check box to exclude duplicates from the feed.

You can use section custom vars/UDPs to define manufacturers etc, off the top of my head I can't remember how many sections back it will look in V7, but in V8 it will go back until it finds one that isn't set to use parent.

The problem is that these aren't duplicates in the actinic sense. They are separate products with separate product names, but they have a common 'manufacturers ID'. But, using teh shopzilla example, I have to use the manufacturers ID to properly identify the product, but it won't let me upload more than one product with the same ID as it thinks they're the same...

yeah, so I have a limited selection up. the other alternative is to have them all uploaded but in the misc section where no-one can find them...

I think that the manufacturers ID is the product code for that product from the manufacturer, but it sounds as if you have entered an ID for the manufacturer.
