Can't export ???

Whenever I try to do an export the following happens:

I select catalog, then Text-comma delimited and ansi.

"Preparing export" runs ok
"Exporting" progresses halfway on the progress bar then hangs

When I eventually cancel I get

"The parameter is incorrect"

Running 7.0.6.00

Data base has been compacted

Snapshot and Froogle export work ok

Any ideas
