    site review.

    Hi,

Been doing a few changes with our website....

I know ive asked this in the past, and its been a great help.....

Looking for any constructive advice and comments on our website, still not generating many sales and not sure if this is down to layout, design or traffic...or something else.

We are still a fairly new site (3 months old) with average 150-200 hits a week. (not even hittin 0.5% conversion rate)

I know more traffic/sales will come in time, but ill put it to the experts here to rip it appart and advise

    site - www.bosslighting.co.uk

    Thanks

    Hi Kes,

see you are using the smart theme. Couple of things you may like to consider to help that theme along a little :

    1. place your contact details at the bottom of the Act_Primary.html to show on every product page

    2. place a link to the sitemap.html at the bottom of the Act_Primary.html to help the search engine spiders.

    3. most of the product description text is in UPPERCASE which is proven to be difficult to scan read

    4. on the sectoin level may be worth setting as 2 across ... at the moment the user needs to scroll a long way down the page where there are lots of sub-sections eg flood lighting section

    5. returns policy - may be better to copy the relevent details rather than forcing a user to connect to an external site and plough through the details ... the link is not working as a clickable link just plain text

      Jont,

Im trying to get the page maxifloods to have 2 rows, but this does not seem to work with products that have the add to cart, ive done it on the parent section. (location and arrangement of sections) and this has listed the industial lighting products into 2 rows.

Is there another way for the actual product page? or is there something im missing.

I see you have changed the sections to 2 across which works much better.

To get the products to be 2 across needs a template hack - this is not built into v7 and is not handled by the section layouts as above. You need to check out www.drillpine.biz for Normans donationware "products in multiple columns" hack.

This is still a section level layout and is actually showing the sub-sections not the products ... the product pages are the pages that actually feature the add to cart button

ok - made a couple more changes.

I.e two rows for sub sections and larger pages split into 2 sections....

Anymore feedback on my website would be appreciated.

              1. Who is your target market for these products?
              2. Are they going to understand the terms and brand names used? (eg. will they know what a 'Titan' is?)
              3. I thought the 'reverse osmosis stuff was a bit confusing - what's that got to do with lights...?
              4. I see you managed to find a live chat then
              5. there is 'click here to apply for membership' - but it doesn't say what you get for it (newsletter? discount?)
              6. I'd say the "Click here for images/info" was a bit small - I would make it a button.
              7. you might want to shove "(Including: VAT at 17.5%)" onto the next line.
              8. the centered info is difficult to read on the section pages, especially centered bullet points...
              9. hidden in the details of the product 'more info' some of them say 'suitable for car park' or 'sign lighting' - had you thought of having a kind of secondary search or browsing structure where the user can choose what they want to do (I want a car park light) and then it gives you a list of lights that are suitable for lighting car parks. This one is related to my first two points and may or may not be relavent depending on your answers...

                Some good points there John,

Most people who buy the industrial lights know what they are. ie titan.

                FREE live chat though

We added the Reverse osmosis just as an add on, dont really advertise we sell it, but it still sells on there (weird huh)

I agree the section info is too small - and will be sorted
I agree the info button sucks - and this also will be sorted.

Will all hopefully add to gaining more sale. hows your site doing fella, i see you got the verified tags too
