    Uploading problem

    Hi There

I have just run the database compaction tool ,the site is 620Mbyte

and I had not run this before.

Now I have come to upload and it is stopped at the checking
    price indices stage.

The software seems to be running as it does not say it is not responding
    in task manager.

I let it run for around half an hour the first time before i stopped it

when I did stop it I got an error message about an invalid argument

However i have just left it running now in the hope it will finish whatever
    it is doing,

Is this normal when you have compacted the database ?

    Regards

Compacting the database usually helps things along - not slow things down.

620mB is a fair sized site - is the site refreshing or is it doing a full upload? How long did it take prior to the compacting?

It could be if the full site is being uploaded it is simply taking a very long time ... size of database, connection speeds, server speed issues etc. May be worth leaving an hour or so and trying again.

      Hi Again

Its just a minor upload with a few pictures but it just sticks

at the same point checking prices and doesnt get to the

      uploading files stage ?

      Kind Regards

An old favourite that often solves unexplainable upload problems - change the script ID number in Advanced | Network Settings and try again.

and if I do and it doesnt work should I change it back.

Change it to anything you want. 2 is fine 12 is fine 999 is fine - no need to change it back, though again, you can if you want to.

One caveat - if you have hard coded any links or "buy from anywhere on the internet" buttons - you will need to change those links to the new script number - or - after a successful upload - change the script number back...
