Upgrade from V.7 to V8 ?

Anyone had upgrade from V.7 to V8 ?

I understand that V8 don't use 'template' while V.7 does.

I have tried the upgrade but the website all gone wonky. Any help are much appreciated.

Yep - thats par for the course from the sites I have test upgraded (not upgrading until it is more stable) ... Actinic generates a report after the upgrade - it is worth taking 5 mins to look in there to see what has happened as this can shed light of various issues.

Yes - v8 has dropped the old fashioned Act_Templates in favour of layouts and layout selectors

The way the version numbers are changing I think I will wait for 9.x, I think it is just around the corner. =:0)

Yes its wobbley and crashy....

hopefully it will be sorted out in due time. Some of us are taking the lets leave it until after Xmas before upgrading as it could be detrimental to Christmas purchasing to upgrade now...

an interesting observation / comment.
I've been playing with v8 for the last week, and although the things that actinic have done, is very clever and bodes well for the future, I just can't get my head round the "lets jump to v8 now"

this afternoon, I said to the client "I don't think v8 is quite ready and stable enough for YOU (the client)" and on that basis, although we're playing with v8, we will NOT be going live just yet.

the thought of xmas looming and missing the rush is now playing on the mind a bit and I think we've taken the right decision FOR US !. but I guess it depends how complex your current site is.
