    Catalogue only back up

We have been merging some of our websites, but now need to back up the orders to one place so that should we need to, we can restore them as we may still get queries relating to past orders. Can you back up the orders without backing up the catalgoue as we have upload and down load on two seperate pc's and the cataloge is only updated on the upload one?

You can export the orders using the "report" facility - but not sure of what use that would be if the machine died as don't think you could easily get them back into Actinic again. If you just need to archive the info then this may be all you need.

You are always best to undertake a full snaphot as this contains everything in case you need to reinstall onto a new machine. It is not worth the risk of using anything else IMHO.

You could also snapshot to an archive and then delete the older orders if these are taking up too much resources on the backup routine

If you have Access 2000 available and are familiar with Access, you can open the ActinicCatalog.mdb file (After making absolutely certain you have a readable backup copy of the whole file), copy the order table structures [there are several tables] to new names.

Build a query to populate these new tables with data beyond a certain date, and once you have that data saved to the new tables, delete the same data from the original tables.

If you need to refer to the old data, you can either - carefully - run through a renaming exercise | OR | append the old data back into the original tables and repeat the whole exercise again later.

NOTE: This cannot easily be done with versions of Access newer than 2000 - Actinic can only work with Access 2000 table structures.
