    email set up

I am trying to set up actinic to send and receive mails, but with no success. I can send and receive emails with outlook express so I know the server works ok.

When I run mail test, it tells me the following.

    Actinic Mail Test completed successfully
    Server: passed
    Connection: failed
    Sockets: passed
    Communications: failed
    Authorisation: failed
    Message: Connection refused

I use smtp mail server: mail.cheapclassiccarparts.co.uk
    User: sales@cheapclassiccarparts.co.uk
    And the password.

Can anyone tell me what im doing wrong.

Have you tried using localhost as the SMTP server and leave the username / password unchecked? Works for most sites

Time to tell us a little bit more about the setup.

Is it windows or linux hosting? Who is the host?

It appears to be 'Everyones Internet' - if so the correct setting could be smtp.ev1.net - if you don't have a dedicated mail server in your package.

The computer you specified as your mail server is not a valid mail (SMTP) server. Check the computer name or address and try again.

Could you please check whether Actinic can generate 'Contact Us' email messages from the website? Sometimes, settings do not pass the test even though they actually do work correctly online.

If you have no joy I suggest you contact Actinic Support via http://www.actinic.co.uk/support/register.htm and see whether they can figure out the correct settings.

              hi

no contact us does not work, i had to make a new email form and webpage of my own to get contact us to work.

All i need to know is when a new order has been placed, is there any other way other than through actinic

I have tried setting up through my webhost and aol and another website they all come up with the same error.
