Discounts not deducting cheapest

Hi
I have various offers set up on Buy x get 1 free.
I have it set up based on 100% off the cheapest item.

The problem is that the cart deducts the cost of any item at random during checkout and only sometimes the cheapest. It almost appears to work depending on the order the customer places their purchases in the cart.

Am i missing something?

Possibly not - I have experienced the same phenomenon in the past and had to remove the way it was set up as it would just not work. The error for me seemed to be sprung when adding 2 of the same item to the cart.

Have you got the products in groups. Does it happen if you add the items to the cart in a specific order?

I cirvumvented this using a simpler discounting structure and the price banding option ... also necessary if trying to use multiple coupon codes
