Your server has been set to disallow that method - try using

ftp://username: password@site.com

remove the space before the "p"

In the Actinic network settings you should see the ftp address, username and password. If you want to use your browser (although you'd be better off using an ftp client mind) then you can type the following in the address bar:
ftp://usernameassword@mydomainaddress

Isnt the actinic sitemap page good enough ? My site http://guru.uk.com never used a google sitemap and all the pages are indexed.

Hi,
My problem is that I cannot get my sitemap to appear on my site.
I have the boxes ticked but it does not appear.
I must be dumb not to be able to get this sorted.
This was my reason for manually creating one where the above reference comes into it
I have now removed the manually created one but cannot get the actinic one to appear for some reason.
Any ideas.

The site map link on the Kessock Model site is cunningly labelled "site map" and sits in the top bar between "home" and "info" .. clicking onto it takes you through to the site map (acatalog/sitemap.html)

Actinic sitemap sits on your site and waits for google to find it.

Upload a Google site map, and tell Google its there, is different. You are telling Google its there and will it please use it to index your site.

Some of the themes are a bit poor in this respect - to ensure good indexing simply hard code a link to the site map - a textual link would be preferable to an image (or both if you feeling inclined)
