    cascading menus

My product makes cascading menus virtually obligatory as the main, perhaps sole, means of search. I've seen Norman Rouxel's solution, but in something as central as navigation to the product, am a bit concerned about java-dependence. Is there any possibility of a solution that doesn't involve script?

Are you talking about Java menus or Javascript menus?

We have developed a number of sites which use popout menus (employing javascript) within Actinic and these are perfectly stable.

We have used an extension provided for Dreamweaver for these menus which was written by Al Sparber et al and it seems to be a secure way of cross browser providing a great, built in navigation method.

See http://www.monicagrenfell.co.uk for an example of these menus (albeit not an Actinic site)

and if you're not faint hearted, see http://www.purplepleasures.com for an example of these within Actinic

    Cheers

I don't understand your reluctance to being Javascript dependent. Actinic doesn't work without Javascript being enabled (except in a extremely non-functional display-only way).

Norman's cascading menus are great if that is what the site needs.
