    CGI- BIN problems

Hey all got some problemswhile trying to upload my shop wondering if you can all help.

When i try and upload the site it gets upto the cgi-bin addresses and then comes up with a error message
I have the following in the manual set up not 100% if this is correct

    Cat url
    http://www.adamwalley.co.uk/acatalog/

    cgi-bin url
    http://www.adamwalley.co.uk/cgi-bin/
(is this just a folder that i create on my own??)

path from CGI to acatalog dir
    http://www.adamwalley.co.uk/acatalog/

    FTP DETAILS
    Host
    ftp.adamwalley.co.uk
    User
    adamwalley.co.uk
    Pass
    *********
    Path to cgi
    ./cgi-bin/

The error message comes up with permission problems, I think it when it needs to upload the test scripts.

From this information can someone get me a point in the right direction?
is there something else i need to upload onto my site to try and get this to work?

    Cheers

    All advice will be great.

    Welcome Adam.
Best is to export your network settings, remove your passwords, and post the settings here. Also tell us your hosting type (Windows or Linux) and who you hosting is with.

I am currently using Windows and am being hosted with Names.com

Please find the settings attached. I have saved it as setting.zip. I had to add the ".zip" to upload it. hope u can sort it from that.

      Cheers for the reply.

You should have been able to produce a .txt file using the export button on your Network settings dialog window, and then edit that .txt file to remove username(s) and password(s) before attaching the txt file here.

Windows servers are different - you need to get the host to create the cgi-bin if it does not already exist AND create a virtual directory pointed at that cgi-bin folder, AND allow specific permissions.

The path from cgi to catalog should be a path - not an http address, and will depend on how the host configures the webspace.

Do you know what version of IIS you are hosted on? The Advanced User Guide contains info on setting up IIS 5.1 which work, but I did find the order of some steps to be a little different on the setup I did.

One thing to immediately deal with - if Front Page Extensions are enabled on the webspace, get them turned off. Actinic does not like them.
