Adding an option in the checkout page?

Hi, I’m building a kitchen catalog with 1000's of products, cabinet's / doors etc...

We need to put in the option for the online customer to be able to choose white or beech at the end.

I thought about duplicating every product into 2 categories of white and beech but I think there should be an easier way to do this.

Is it possible to add an option or a page to go through when checking out to choose either A or B, it doesn’t need to effect any prices or shipping, just let me no in the order what colour they want, but this also needs to be an option you cannot continue without choosing and with no default.

I no that I could put the option separate on every product but this will not work for us.

    Thanks

If every order needs the same question asked and answered, you could use the User Defined field in checkout to collect the information.

To get help setting this up, see Help | Help Topics - Content tab, Online Store Features, Changing Checkout Questions.

Yes, that's right. You will need to have the site online to see the checkout pages and test this.

You can install a local test server and publish to that (details in the advanced user guide) but this can be very tricky to install - for something small it is probably best going live and if it fails quickly removing and refreshing the site again
