    Corrupted Customer email confirmation

    Hi,

The confirmation email sent to customers after placing an order has developed a formatting error. It seems to have happened after an order was received from Sweden.
I have done a complete refresh on the site, but the error still persists.

I have inserted ** for anonymity, the email appears like this:

    Dear Mr M B,

Thank you for shopping at Electrohill .
We have received and are processing the following order:

The rest of the website appears to be functioning normally.

I would be grateful if anyone has a clue as to what has happened.

    Thanks

    How odd

This definitely looks like a Perl error - but you've already done a refresh and that doesn't seem to have fixed it.

Have you every made any edits to the Perl scripts? If not, then I suggest copying all the *.pm and *.pl files from your 'Original' folder into your 'Site1' folder and then do another refresh. That should really reset everything to do with the email sending.

      Chris,

I have done as suggested, copied all .pm and pl files from the Original folder, applied the v615GoogleSession mod, and still no joy. I have also noticed that the Order notification email is also affected thus:

A new catalog order has been received at your web site since you last dow=
      nloaded.

I have spoken to my ISP, they have made alterations to their email platform, but assure me nothing that would alter the content of any email.

I have Googled "3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D" and have found a lot very similar emails (not originating from Actinic) showing a similar formatting error.

      Completely baffled

      Richard

OK - this is well beyond my expertise I'm afraid. It looks like Actinic is working fine, but somehow the SMTP server is mangling the emails.

You could try using the Sendmail module on your web server (if it is present) rather than SMTP. Check out the script patch right at the bottom of http://www.drillpine.biz/actinicstuff/index.html for more details.

I think I am now getting to the bottom of this.
In the header of the corrupted emails the line:

              Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit is missing

My next question is, does Actinic generate this header?

              Thanks

              Richard

Weird....surf-wax is 6.1.5 and never experinced this issue - probably because we do not allow Google to index anything except html files
