    International Shipping Costs

    Hi,

I have started selling art-related items now to foreign customers and in my shipping schedules I have First Class Post, Standard Parcel and also Zones 5-9 and the title International Standard which I think were pre-defined (I have added the UK postal prices myself).

I took an order this week for paint to be shipped to Sweden and the total weight was 18.010 and the shipping costs were defined as Zone 9 and came out a whopping £67.00!! Basicallt this is a box of paints.I will be shipping to Europe quite a lot as the new products I am selling are not easy to get there and I have a good database of customers who need to buy from me.

I am really concerned that these shipping details are way out but I do not know what best to offer my customers for choice at the checkout stage. Some items can be taken to post office by myself, even heavier ones, bu some (like maybe compressors and airbrush equipment/kits) will be drop-shipped directly from my suppliers and they use a courier-type ervice for this which I guess will be a bit more expensive.

Can anyone suggest where I can find the correct info to update my delivery choices and what I should perhaps add? The largest thing I sell is a small airbrush compressor and this weighs 12kg. I also have kits with comopressor/airbrush/paints/DVD's and this weighs 14.5 but obviously, customers could order many bottles of paint (like the one mentioned above).

    Thanks.

Any ideas please anyone? Does this sound actually OK for prices to the destination? I checked on the Royal mail site and it actually said 18kg was more expensive for international standard Parcelforce!

    Cheers .

You can compare prices with people like DHL and Fedex at the following locations:

      http://www.dhl.co.uk/publish/gb/en/i...duct.high.html
      http://www.fedex.com/gb/shippingguide/

This will give you an idea about shipping costs to Europe. But for 18kg it sounds about right - that's quite a heavy parcel to ship.
