    Message in checkout pages

    I used to have a message when the customer went to checkout stating that delivery will be calculated and confirmation of price will be sent by email etc, etc. This is set up in design options/site defaults and still seems to be in place.

    I have been messing about with discount & surcharge settings and seem to have made my message on checkout disappear.
    I really don't know what has happened. We sell gifts and need to get the message sorted before the Xmas rush our site: www.porreda.com

    Would also appreciate any comments with ease of use of our site & any suggestions.

    I have been messing about with discount & surcharge settings and seem to have made my message on checkout disappear.
    I presume that your designers set this up for you - it would be easier to contact them.

      The problem is I had one company intially set up actinic, but we didn't like the design and so taken on another company to design it. The 2nd company are not located near us so cannot see the intial set up and they want to charge a lot of money to put it right. I thought if I could understand what goes on behind the scenes a bit more I might be able to see what has happened. Do you have any ideas?

      Maybe I could start from scratch adding a message to the checkout pages?

        This is not quite the case as you can create a snapshot and email it (if it is not too large). The problem you have is that the first company have created a custom site which will always be a problem for another company to work on as they first have to figure out what the other has done to the site before they can continue.

        On the forum we are in a similar situation - if you would like to email me a snapshot I will have a quick look and see what is going on for you rather than spending hours suggesting things which may not work.

          Hi

          My snapshot is 88,848 KB so will not be able to email. They did have it working fine, but something in discounts I cahnged has messed it up. Will probably have to get them to sort it. Just would like to understand it a bit more.

            Do you have the Actinic book that came with the software it explains how discounts etc are setup. Another option would be to restore the site to a previous snap shot and see how the discounts were setup and then put the current site back.

              A simple check is to go to Discount and Surcharges | Miscellaneous | Discount Info and select the Display on Shopping cart option and make sure this is selcetd - that may fix it.

                Thank you for all your advice, but I have tried everything. I loaded a previous snapshot and added back the discount changes I made, but still no joy. I checked the display on shopping cart option as you suggested and the box is ticked. I'm going to reload a previous snapshot and double check, I have made too many changes to update the previuos snapshot to web and yes I should of made a copy before messing around with discounts, but I was very, very silly

                  Im not suggesting that you update a previous snapshot just look at the discount settings, make a note of them and then reload a current snapshot and enter in the old discount settings manually.

                    I know but I said it before you suggested it!! I'm just about to restore to a snapshot in late Oct so I'll keep you informed - Thank you so much for your suggestions

                        The message may have been hard coded into the design - if so you will need to edit the template and replace the text.
