    Advanced Javascript search function

    Hi all

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a person who may be able to create some Javascript for an advanced Search function within Actinic V7.

At present each of my products have values from a number of customnavs that can be seen in the advanced search page. Product type, Colour, Material, Made In, Designer.

I would like to include the following functionality:

If a customer selects a value in one of the lists (e.g. option "Robert Charles" in the Designer list) the other lists only display the options that are relevant. Therefore in the aforementioned scenario, under the colour list, the Burgundy option would not appear in the colour list if the customer has selected Robert Charles becuase there are no Robert Charles products that have this colour value assigned. Likewise under products, the Pen value would not appear.

This would make my advanced search function far, far more uasable.

    Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I can't help you with any js but I wonder if you are giving too many options in the advanced search anyway. Could you not perhaps remove at least a couple of the selection drop downs to simplify things? I may be wrong but I would doubt that for example 'Material' and 'Made In' are really required.

I would expect people already use the main search box to include some of the words that matter to them. Eg they may type 'bow tie blue silk' for example. If you're not already doing so it would be a good idea to configure a log of the searched terms and review that from time to time.

I agree - I will do this! Keep it simple eh?!? I like your thinking.

I would like to push on with the dynamic options also becuase I feel that it is a quite user friendly option. So if anyone else can recommend someone I can contact about a paid development/patch I would apprecaite it!

This works but the problem is if the customer was to type 'bow ties blue silk' not all results would appear.

      Kind regards
