    Problem on Checkout

    I have a customer who has come across the following error on trying to checkout;

    Select Shipping Destination - Your order has exceeded the shipping tables defined by the supplier, therefore it is not possible to calculate the shipping cost. Please contact the supplier with this information as they will be happy to process your order and will then be able to correct the shipping tables

    Any ideas?

    Go Business Settings | Shipping & Handling

    Check the entries for the destination that the customer is shipping to and make sure you have that country covered.
    Check that under 'Excess' you have not ticked 'don't allow excess' and have ticked one of the other two options

      Hi Martin

      I've got 'don't allow excess' ticked.

      I have the country as Ireland and the pricing is a standard flat rate per parcel, and I've had orders made selecting this country before without problem.

      So if I now tick 'take the highest value in the table' will this muck up my other UK options?

        I remember having the same problem with my site, and clearing the 'don't allow excess' tab seemed to have solved it (always difficult to be sure, as the error was difficult to replicate - it seemed to happen erratically).

        will this muck up my other UK options?
        it shouldn't, but you need to think through each postage setting (per country) in turn ie. what would happen if customer ordered this amount, or over that amount.

        the only reason for setting 'don't allow excess' is if you wanted to limit the order size (say to max 2 kg).

        'take the highest value' does just that eg. if your set up by weight, and your highest defined weight is 2 kg = £3.99, then an order weighing 4 kg, would still get charged £3.99.

        If you need further help, please provide an example of how you have the postage set up, and what you want to achieve, and I'll take a closer look.
        It is difficult covering all bases as the postage tables aren't flexible enough for all needs (hopefully something that will be fixed in a future release).

          Basically I charge a standard price per order;

          United Kingdom
          >Standard Delivery
          >Express Delivery

          Ireland
          >Standard Delivery

          I've attached a snapshot of my shipping set-up

            You need to set the excess as 'take the higest value in the table' for each shipping class - otherwise, people are going to be able to order no more than one product at a time!
