I have finally got everything running, updated to the last version (5.1.6) and updated the payment providers.

I want to make Paypal a payment option. I know I have to be a Paypal business user and that's fine. I am not 100% on how I add Paypal as a payment option. I am assuming that it must be set up in Business Settings / Payment and Security and using the Web Merchant option of the revised drop down list that includes HSBC e/payment.

Can anyone offer any pointers on what I need to do next - or even if I am in the right direction?

You are heading in the right direction - all you need to do is add another payment option and select paypal. Then select configure and enter your paypal email - thats it done.

Not sure that Paypal are available as an option in v5 - you may need to call Actinic Support and ask if they have a new Payment Service Providers patch.

Actinic support say they don't support v5 any more. Does anybody know if there is such a patch or is it just impossible to use PayPal with v5?

I'm afraid Paypal Support for Actinic started on version 6, there is no paypal support on v5. Only HSBC was introduced to v4 onwards
